Every December 1st, millions of people around the world participate in World AIDS Day, an international day of recognition, remembrance and education. The theme, until 2010, is Stop AIDS. Keep the promise.
The promises referred to by the event organizers are those made by people and countries. The promises we respond to, as God's people, are those God has given us in scripture; the ones that are etched throughout the history of the church. Promises to relieve the burden of the oppressed and bring healing to those who are broken and diseased.
Take some time to be reminded of God's promises to the less fortunate in one or more of the following ways:
Take a look at the images for some illustrated verses.
Check the resources to find some promises online.
Take five minutes and leaf through your Bible, considering the promises for the down-trodden
that you come across.
Pick a few verses to write down and carry with you this week as you let the Spirit align your
heart with his.
Do your own search for verses related to the hurting and oppressed.
